Location: West Yorkshire, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Heckmondwike

The Client: Leading 1st tier supplier in the Automotive sector

Main Activities / Responsibilities
  • To manage resource in order to control the planning, scheduling and material handling functions with participation and commitment from all areas of business.
  • Maintain 100% on time in full delivery to customer
  • To manage freight and eliminate premium freight costs
  • To oversee waste management to ensure segregation and maximise recycling potential
  • Manage all aspects of service parts centre, maintaining supply levels to meet customer expectations
  • To control NPI logistics issues and product run out
  • To maintain productions levels in all logistics areas
  • To manage material handling equipment and costs, monitor utilisation, impact data and driver performance
  • To manage inventory levels and stock accuracy to meet budget and BGEU expectations
  • To identify and implement cost reduction opportunities
  • Implement and control visual management of all raw material/ WIP and finished goods
  • Create a world class working environment including all warehouses, yard, WIP, spares areas

Main activities:

  • Overseeing daily/weekly/monthly planning activities to achieve 100% delivery performance
  • To lead by example, identify and develop operational teams working in the boundaries of TS16949, OHSAS18001 & ISO14001 requirements in conjunction with the business needs and it’s customers
  • To manage people in an open, communicative and motivational style, while respecting the needs and requirements of people, processes and customers
  • Ensure requirements of TS16949, OHSAS18001 and ISO14001 are respected
  • Ensure production standards are met in all logistics areas
  • Ensure BPCS transactions are accurate and on time
  • Attend daily and weekly management meetings
  • Control and monitor product run out activities
  • Control and monitor new product introduction activities
  • Organise, control and report issues with month end stock takes
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and production to resolve issues
  • Update and issue weekly and monthly KPI’s
  • Control planning and production of all trials and samples
  • Attend monthly H&S meeting
  • Provide capacity planning information as required
  • Provide sales forecasts as required
  • Ensure that employees in your charge are aware of the requirement to, and are trained in how to, work safely
  • Ensure that you and your team are aware of, contribute to and follow relevant EHS procedures, processes and practices
  • Ensure that accidents and incidents are reported and investigated; regularly monitor and discuss EHS performance in your department, and take follow-up action as necessary
  • Ensure that temps, visitors and contractors to your department know what they must do to work safely and comply with emergency policies

Required experience:

  • Supply Chain experience preferably automotive
  • Knowledge of SAP, BPCS
  • Excellent communication skills and good manager of people
  • Good knowledge of Excel, Word, Power point and Lotus Notes
  • Ability to work under pressure, paying attention to detail to accuracy, prioritising work load and meeting deadlines
  • A proven record of implementing change and turnaround, demonstrating good people management techniques in motivation, development and communication.
  • To lead teams by example demonstrating a positive attitude towards problem solving and be pragmatic and tenacious with a passion for success and customer satisfaction
  • Strong focus on EHS
  • Effective at delegation, time management, project planning, and forward planning through the use of business systems and processes; TS16946, ISO14001, 5S, TPM, RPS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate mechanical aptitude and knowledge
  • Understands and can apply company Production Systems principals and practices while operating with an open mind to continuous improvement
  • An understanding of business Key Performance Indicators (KPI), finance and budgetary control
  • Experience of automotive manufacturing and Textiles and expected responsiveness to customer needs and the business
