Location: Leicester, Leicestershire, Market Harborough, Hinkley, Lougborough

My client specialises in the design, development and manufacturing of powertrain and

components for the motor sport, high performance vehicles and aerospace industries.

Their aim is to be the world’s leading supplier of systems to the motor sport, luxury

automotive and the aerospace industry.

The Role:

To process, plan and progress work to ensure work is in the right place at the right time

resulting in orders being fulfilled in full and on time & to expected quality standards

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Supervision of shopfloor personnel
  • Updating and maintaining master production schedule in alignment with company goals and production targets
  • Planning and handling of resources, capacities and schedules
  • Report progress made and current production status to management including contingencies and alternative plans where appropriate
  • Schedule external services with consideration to price, timeframe and transport requirements
  • Measure and improve the following key metrics:
  • Delivery performance
  • Appropriate cycle times and set up times
  • Availability of resources
  • Shop floor quality issues including resolutions
  • Responsible for ensuring machines and facilities adhere to preventative maintenance routines
  • Chairing and contributing to daily production meetings
  • Creating and distributing daily delivery lists
  • Creating and distributing ‘Work To’ lists promptly
  • Agree forging plans with Forging Team Leader
  • Provide delivery promises to Sales as required
  • Advising Sales on necessary order rescheduling
  • Creating and using visual capacity metrics
  • Producing route cards
  • Attending meetings as required
  • Taking care to ensure customer proprietary information remains confidential at all times
  • Being aware of quality requirements of the business at all times
  • Being aware of health and safety responsibilities in own and others’ activities
  • Adhering to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment, systems and materials at all times

Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge required:

  • Previous experience in production planning & / or production management essential, ideally 2 years minimum
  • Ability to understand financial implications in respective departments including headcount, capacity, investments and respective costs
  • Experience of fasteners advantageous
  • Planning skills
  • Decision making
  • Time management / project management – ability to manage a variety of tasks at the same time
  • Customer focus, commercial awareness
  • Team orientated, demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the Company and colleagues
  • Good standard of written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to present written information in a structured and balanced manner
  • Must be able to work independently and flexibly, using own initiative
  • Must be able to demonstrate high level of efficiency and attention to detail and quality
  • Good PC skills, knowledge of MRP
